Project in Detail

What makes this project unusual, is the fact that the new building is being built in the town of Cromarty near Inverness. A town which has more protected buildings per head of population than any other in Scotland. In addition, the new building will be situated right in the middle of the old fishertown, the most preserved area!

So, the design for this new house is unusual in that we cannot replace the existing buildings with anything modern or visually 'out-of-place'.  To get over this potentially limiting problem, we decided to create a new, eco and environmentally friendly house that will closely match the size and shape of the existing buildings.  And, materials used for the external shell of the building will closely match those from the original buildings.

The internal division of rooms and areas within the house is also fairly unusual in that corridors have been kept to an absolute minimum.

The plans for the house are are available for download on our Library Page.
