The Original Barns
On this page I've included a number of pictures showing the barns as they were. As you can see, they were in a pretty bad state and had been for many years. As far as we understand, over the last few decades they've simply been used as basic storage for all manner of items.
The original buildings where originally put up around 1912. They started life stabling a horse and cart which was used to pick up materials arriving by boat in the local harbour and then delivering them to various destinations in and around the town.
Later, the buildings became home to one of the very first motor cars in the town and the smaller of the two building still contains an inspection pit sunk into the ground.
Apparently in the late nineteen forties, the upper part of the smaller of the two buildings became used as a mini film theatre where local teenagers would gather to watch films.
